Breakfast was a fine Loch Fyne kipper - juicy and succulent and
perfectly cooked. The Scots know a thing or two about kippers! Set off
at 8.45 into the misty hills, the temperature being a chilly 12
degrees...... The first part of the journey following NCN 77 on a gravel
track through the woods, then along quiet roads to Pitlochry. Then
followed a what seemed like an endless climb up to the 462m. Drumochter
Summit. From here on was mainly downhill or flat terrein apart from a
climb up through the touristy Aviemore. The temperatures rose gradually
throughout the day and when I arrived at Carrbridge, my destination, the
temperature had soared to 26 degrees. After an hours lie down headed
for the local pub where I had some fine local ale and fish an chips.
Heavy rain is forecast tomorrow...
