LeJog Day Six

Rain!  Lots of the stuff, together with rumbles of thunder. that's how my day started. For the first hour and a half of my cycle heavy rain so rain attire for me and covers on  the baggage. My route today more or less due North the whole way.  When I planned this trip on Google maps I assumed that all routes, whether they be roads, tracks or cycle pats would be open. Not so. A couple of times today the route didn't exist or was impassable. What Google also doesn't show is that some of the route is down two-feet wide dirt tacks with brambles and stinging nettles on each side. Anyway, ther rain stopped and for about 20km followed the towpath along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. Later on I was zigzagging back and forth over the M6, a noisy and busy road. 8 km from Lancaster the satnav took me along another tow path which was no more than a grass track and my speed slowed richt down. To make matters worse the heavens opened and I had to shelter under a bridge to wait for the storm to pass. Consequently I arrived bedraggled, wet and dirty at the hotel at 7 o'clock.

Stats:
Distance : 138.9 km
Average speed: 16.4km/h
Max speed: 48.3kph
kCal:3308
Cum total. 789.9km
