LeJog Day Seven

After a fine breakfast of smoked kippers and poached egg set off at 8 am. The weather is overcast but bright with no wind. The first part of the route goes along the towpath of the Lancaster Canal. Miles and miles of flat cycle mostly in good condition. There are views across Morecombe Bay. Later the route took me right through the centre of Kendal which was very busy with shoppers. Stopped at a really old-fashioned bakery in Burneside where I bought tea and lunch which I ate on a picnic site round the corner. Unfortunately my route then ended up with a dead end. There was a stony path which I followed for a bit but gave up after two walkers, (who were lost), told me the path went up into the hills with no road for miles. I therefore turned back and had to make a long detour with a long climb up to vthe Kirkstone Pass (475m.) then a long freewheel down to Ullswater. The scenery and views are impressive here!
Tomorrow Scotland.
